Tonight I’m at the Emily King and Nick Hakim concert and this heaux in front of me has been recording from her gottdayum iPad all night. At one point she was electronic device double-fisting and we all just wanted to punch her stupid face.

"Down" - Emily King

Think I’m late to the train, but NYC’s own Emily King put out an EP called Seven last year. It had been 4 years since her Grammy nomination in 2007 for East Side Story and her sound has definitely evolved into something she seems more comfortable with: an acoustic vibe on top of a sullen R&B beat.

You keep pulling me
Down down down down down
Lower than I’ve ever known
Oh you tease me with a smile
Then you leave me all alone

Like a drop of rain
Falling through a passing wind
You keep pulling me
Down down down down down
Can we get back up again?
