"We Need Some Money" - Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers

DC native Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go, just passed away at 75 years of age. Back in 2006, he opened up for James Brown (one of his last performances actually) at DC’s 9:30 Club and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever experienced.

Both of them were on FIRE that night. They were jamming out and dancing as if they had forgotten how old their asses were and it was really quite beautiful.

Go-Go music isn’t for most people. Hell, most of it I don’t even really like and I’m from here. But there’s something to be said about that original 70’s funk drum vibe that has resonated into the sound of some musicians today.

RIP, Chuck.
